Good morning everyone!
We have some exciting news in our office regarding research and changes to our staff, including two new doctors that will be joining the practice later this summer.
We are getting ready to start our first study on synovial biopsies. The biopsy is a new technique we will use to obtain tissue from inflamed joints. We will then study the samples for signals of disease activity and for response to medication. Our colleague Dr. Ami Ben-Artzi, an expert in performing these biopsies, will collaborate with us.
Our goal is to develop a full-fledged synovial biopsy program and use this innovative technique to study which drug therapy might be suitable for an individual patient, or whether a certain drug is working for our patients.
We continue to explore other ways to improve patients’ autoimmune symptoms using technology such as virtual reality. The team looks forward to starting a biosensor study in lupus patients, using Fitbits to track their movements.
When you call the office, you may get Jackie Vasquez on the line. After a leave of absence, Jackie is back and handling the front office.
We are getting ready to roll out the red carpet for the practice’s new associates, Dr. Daphne Scaramangas-Plumley and Dr. Christene Lee. Both talented and experienced rheumatologists, Drs. Scaramangas-Plumley and Lee will help Attune Health meet our ambitious goals for patient care and providing the latest treatment.
Thank you again for checking in with Attune Health. We hope to hear from you soon.
