Fall Craving: Pumpkin Spice Trail Mix

Pumpkin spice is everywhere. And we mean everywhere — not just muffins and lattes, but pumpkin spice peanut butter, pumpkin spice bar soap, even pumpkin spice perfume.

Critics of fall’s favorite flavor say pumpkin spice has jumped the shark. We say no way.

Our pumpkin spice trail mix from our board-certified, holistic nutritionist Lee Bell is the perfect autumn blend of sweet and savory without all the added sugar that’s typically loaded into pumpkin treats. And, Bell noted, it is loaded with antioxidants.

Great for on the go or a popular party dish, this is one pumpkin spice recipe sure to stick around longer than that pumpkin scented air freshener.


Pumpkin Spice Trail Mix

  • 2 cups unsweetened coconut flakes
  • ⅔ cup sultana raisins
  • ⅔ cup apple rings, chipped
  • ½ cup pumpkin seeds, raw
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 medium bananas, with ripe spots
  • 1 tablespoon pureed pumpkin
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ¼ cup cacao nibs



  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Line baking sheet with parchment paper
  3. In medium bowl, combine coconut flakes, raisins, apple rings and pumpkin seeds.
  4. In a separate bowl, mash bananas until smooth. Stir in the coconut oil, spices and pumpkin until well combined.  
  5. Coat the dry mix with the wet mix and stir until combined.
  6. Bake for about 45 minutes, stirring halfway through, until trail mix is golden brown.
  7. Let cool for 30 minutes, and add cacao nibs.  
  8. Toss. Eat. Enjoy!
